Model Tutorials

Here is a bunch of techniques that might help you understand the techniques that can be used in model making.

Key attributes (PAT) to build more successful models include:
Preparation (have your tools ready and know what you are going to do and when you are going to do it. Keep your working area clean and uncluttered)
Accuracy (measure and cut with great care and attention)
Time (that is take your time, don't rush)

The photo on the left show a Rabbet Joint (to neatly connect two pieces of foamboard together into a corner) The tutorials will explain some of the many techniques you will use!

Tools you will use with model making with foam board

Cutting knife (really important to have a sharp blade for cleaner cuts). Press lightly (needs three light strokes in foamboard), cut at 90 degrees to the board.
Cutting mat (to protect the surface below when cutting and gluing). The squares helps with lining up and measuring.
Double-sided tape for sticking the walls to the floor plan etc.
Engineer's square (sometimes called a try square). Helps ensure that two sides are at 90 degrees to each other)
All purpose glue
Metal ruler (notice the groove... help protect your fingers)
Measuring tape
Foam board (either supplied in 3mm or 5mm thickness)
